To mark the 150th anniversary of “Bal du moulin de la Galette” (1876), a masterpiece in the Musée d’Orsay’s Impressionist collection, this exhibition brings together for the first time this major body of “scenes of modern life”—multi-figure paintings depicting contemporary subjects (distinct from portraits and landscapes)—created by Renoir during the first twenty years of his career (1865–1885).
